Hi there,
Sorry, I got a bit narcissistic with the title. It’s because I just realised we haven’t spoken in February at all.
That’s because of
a sudden illness of someone close to me
attending five weddings this month
Thanks to the weddings, I’m craving something sweet each day. Makes me realise how quickly bad habits come to us whereas it takes weeks to develop good ones.
Two days into being in London at the end of January, Jai and I returned to India in an emergency as someone close to us had a severe heart attack. I wouldn’t name them or our relation and I don’t have their consent for it.
It was a near-death situation.
On our plane ride back, we were counting our blessings, like
the person suffering almost didn’t visit the hospital until they got a push
the night after a 5-hour-long attack, they were scheduled to collect meds where the doctor recommended they visit the hospital. If not, they would’ve passed it off as chest pain due to cough.
the person was suffering from a cough already which is known to keep you safer during an attack
reaching the hospital timely and realising that the tremors of the attack were ongoing, so it was about 14+ hours of suffering
The person is fit, has a daily routine, and stays busy.
It was a typical scenario of someone suffering who you least expect to suffer.
This makes me think of how suddenly things can happen and your entire world can turn upside-down. How life is truly unpredictable and we waste too much of our waking time worrying about things that don’t matter in the larger picture of life.
And how our health is the foundation of everything.
No amount of money or anything will make up for it. And to live with deteriorated health feels terrible - to you and your loved ones.
I told this to a friend who told me his father had a heart attack that puts him at a risk of one too. But he still smokes a lot and drinks. This is exactly how most of us are wasting our bodies away by doing things that don’t affect us right now. Because they don’t have quick consequences, we stay at it. And later on, you invite a spectrum of diseases.
I hope this gives you a perspective on life, and the way you want to lead it.
Love,
N
