Hi friend,
It was intentional to not send you a newsletter last weekend.
By the time you read this, I’ll be on a long flight hopefully not having flight anxiety.
Every time I hop on a flight, my tummy starts churning and each time we pass through turbulence, I start praying thinking I’m going to die.
And now, the thought of this before my flight is already making my tummy feel funny.
Fun Flight Anxiety Story
Do you know how I got flight anxiety? Stupid move.
I was flying to Stockholm in May 2018 and couldn’t sleep the night before. So YouTube showed me ‘The Flight Channel’ which specialises in high-quality aircraft crash videos.
I binged on it. And now various types of crashes float in my head each time I hop on a flight.
July - a Glimpse
Now, a few hundred of you have recently subscribed due to some high-performing LinkedIn posts.
Those of you who don’t know - I finally got my MOST vulnerable story out which is about getting fired. You can read it here.
July was good. Here’s what happened:
My video series (Solopreneur Sundays) which I was so scared about performed incredibly well. Apparently, I don’t need to succumb to social media beauty standards to be on video - people enjoy it if they get value. Here is my final video from the series.
My LinkedIn Playbook which was released on July 02 got 125+ downloads
I wrote a lot
I hit 10k followers on Medium and Twitter
But I wish I spent more time with my family. I was working so much on putting out enough content and scheduling stuff for August that I burnt out.
What Am I Doing in August
I’m travelling for four weeks to a few cities. If you’re on my Twitter, you might get updates.
I have to mandatorily post on LinkedIn 4x a week until the Creators Program ends so there’s that until mid-August.
But, here’s what I’m really doing in August:
eating good food
travelling
journalling
exploring
reading
walking a lot
meeting some friends
spending time with my mum
try new types of cheese!
And most important,
no laptop (SO scared about this)
no work
create only if I feel like
Still Want to Read my Stuff?
I‘ve scheduled 2 tweets a day for the month ahead.
I will also have some articles rolling out on Medium.
And then there’s Side Hustle Saturdays Newsletter which is scheduled for every, ahem, Saturday of course. You can just grab my free Side Hustler Checklist here and join 3500+ others to receive it every week.
I also recently posted this article that you might enjoy:
Final Recommendations
My final suggestions before I leave:
Book: The Comfort Book by Matt Haig is pure love; Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus for fiction
Podcast: The Happiness Expert Making 1 Billion People Happier - Mo Gawdat. This will make you pause everything and just listen. It helped me put a lot of things into perspective.
Songs: I’m really vibing with ilym, yaarana and aakhon se batana. The last two are in Hindi. They’re all available on Spotify but I’ve hyperlinked YouTube videos here.
Shows: I’m mindblown watching Manifest on Netflix. I’m downloading it to binge-watch it on the plane.
Lastly
I want you to be yourself shamelessly. Trust me.
I had a shower thought today where I was thinking of how hard I’ve tried to fit in during different times in my life and never did. I’ve always been that person with a few close friends and an awkward person in a new group.
But why was I in new groups when I didn’t want to be? Because it’s the normal thing to do.
Now, I’m very proudly weird. I don’t want to fit in. I don’t want somebody else’s mind to validate me and form my self-worth.
The power of how I feel about myself and in general must stay with me. As it must stay with you, only you.
Once you do that, you’re invincible.
I will see you in September.
Love,
N
