Hi friend,
As I type this, I’m sitting on the balcony surrounded by coconut trees and the sound of the river that I see flowing next to me. The breeze on my face is such a relief from Delhi’s heat and air.
Today morning when I got out of the room, I could breathe.
So deeply.
It was effortless!
The basic right I don’t get back in my pollution-stricken city.
I’m in Calicut because my husband, Jai, is here for work. So I tagged along because whyyyy not.
I took a call a few hours ago where we discussed a bit about travelling and capturing the moment. Either by writing about your daily experiences or by taking photos. So you remember them, duh.
If you ask me, I don’t do anything.
And I’ll tell you why later.
But this kind of made me think of Instagram ninjas. Who spend their finite time recording their lives in a way that makes it look like they’re living their best lives. Even though while recording that, one is doing anything but living in the moment.
So much pressure for social validation.
So much pressure to show a stand in society.
A non-value-added activity that has zero positive or constructive consequences.
Experiences.
They make us. And we invest time and resources to create them.
Perhaps it’s time we absorb them in their entirety.
So how do I capture my big moments? I don’t. Right now, my mind is feeling a sense of calm words cannot describe. And I want to stay in that state, observe it, and absorb it.
All of this instead of finding a way to capture it or show it to the world how I’m feeling.
How I feel is for me to feel.
And to feel at a time our eyes are always busy feels like a luxury, anyway.
What do you do, dear reader?
I’d love to know how you capture your moments if you do and if you don’t, why not and what you do instead.

It is true that any experience is personal. Yes, we used to capture photos when we visited places just to revisit those memories but not to show off to others. I'd like to capture few moments of those memories in photos but more in my heart.
Hello,
I truly resonate with your thoughts on experiencing the moment fully rather than focusing solely on capturing it. The serenity of Calicut sounds truly enchanting. As someone from Kerala, where natural beauty abounds, I find solace in immersing myself in the present. Sometimes, I do capture moments through photographs, but I also find joy in simply observing and appreciating the beauty around me. Kerala's landscapes offer endless opportunities for both experiences and memories.
Warm regards,
Athul tv
