Hi friends, today’s post is a little different. I planned to send you something entirely separate from what I’ll be sending you today.
Also, a huge welcome to a few hundred more people who joined this family in the last two days from Linkedin. I hope you enjoy this weekly mail that will leave you a little healthier, happier, or smiling.
So let’s talk about a few things…
Life Update
I’m now officially self-employed as a writer.
It all started from a vague idea in September 2020 and then I tested the market. I eventually started networking with people and making money. Once I consistently made more than my corporate salary, I decided it was time to take it full-time.
Some of you have asked how I earn as a writer (so far), and here’s the answer:
I write on a website called Medium that pays me via the Medium Partner Program
I take up freelance writing gigs. I’ve worked with individuals and startups across the US, UK, Australia, UAE and Switzerland.
I will start writing on another platform called Newsbreak that pays creators.
I have written some articles that can help you around side-hustles to create an additional source of income and the entire process of how I quit my 9-5. If that’s something you’ll be interested in, hit reply and let me know.
I’m also not going to work apart from writing Medium articles until July 15th so I can just chill and plan out things (more chilling than planning).
Your girl went viral!!!!!!
I uploaded this status two days ago, and I have no idea what happened. My notifications blew up! (And are still going nuts)
The internet is a crazy place, right?
I still can’t believe it but I’m really grateful for it. It’s pretty cool indeed.
How many books do you plan to read this year?
And if you haven’t decided yet, how many books do you plan to read by the end of 2021?
I read 21 books this year, and I’m onto my 22nd one. Here’s a link containing bite-sized lessons from the 21 books I read so far.
If you’re not a reader, I feel you. Growing up, my parents always bought me sets of children’s books to read. I don’t know why did we need huge sets of them when I resented reading and didn’t flip a single page.
I didn’t get all the barbies I wanted, and eating out was limited back then, unlike today's days of instant gratification.
But I’ll never forget when I finally started to enjoy reading at 11 and went book shopping. I entered the store and asked my dad what was our budget to spend. I have all the money in the world to buy you books, he told me.
That moment will forever be imprinted in my heart.
I wrote a detailed post about how can non-readers start reading, click here to check it out.
And finally
A big thank you for all the love you show me and for appreciating what I write.
I’m really kicked about my new journey!
Who knows if things will go the way I’ve imagined them to, but what I know for sure is that it’ll be a crazy ride filled with fun! And life’s too short to miss such rides :)
If you enjoyed reading this, I’d love for you to share it with others who will too.
To wrap up, here are the links I’ve shared throughout this post:
So proud of you! Always enjoyed your writing ever since Instagram and I found you in LinkedIn and I instantly subscribed! Much love and support to you! Only few people make their dream into reality 💕
Really inspiring. 👍
Kudos and more energy to you.
