Hi friend,
I type this real-time on a Sunday afternoon because I didn’t want to go another Sunday without sliding into your inbox (ok that sounded creepy).
Last week exactly this time, I was eating lunch when I experienced a shooting pain in my stomach. It was so bad that I ran out of lunch and spent 30 minutes of the car ride holding my stomach. The pain then moved from the right side of my abdomen to the middle, but it didn’t become weaker.
I took medicine at home for indigestion and turns out, it was just indigestion.
Fast forward three days, I was vomiting between 3 am to 8 am.
I lost so much water that my muscles ached as though I did a full-body workout. My hips ached while going up and down the stairs, and then I just lay in bed all day. Even during that, my shoulders hurt.
It kinda sucked to keep lying down all day.
Today, I did a light workout after yesterday’s afternoon binge with my family where I ate my most favourite food in the world.
I’m telling you this because everything above screams one thing - rest.
I can write a bit more about other things that didn’t go well but I believe talking about illness only spreads it, and we should focus our energies on good health and gratitude instead.
“We become what we think about. Energy flows where attention goes.”— Rhonda Byrne
So why did I write the above not-so-positive paragraph?
To tell you that sometimes, your body conveys a message that you’re too busy to listen to.
And especially when it comes to rest - who wants to do that anyway?
Productivity
Hustle
Hard work
We’re all stuck in this race that we dismiss what our body wants. This is kinda funny because a healthy mind and body produce better work too.
For me, I find it hard to take time off my workout because it’s been a routine for 9.5 hours. But working out when the body is screaming for rest… is stupid.
That’s all for today.
I hope you can take out time to listen, be aware, and take the right action.
Not the one that feels right right now, but the one that is right.
Love,
N
Get well soon.
I totally feel you and wish you a good recovery! I had to take an extended break last summer to care about my health which was deteriorating and manifesting in mental overload/migraine/severe exhaustion. Slowly coming back and finally found a good doctor and hopefully soon also a coach.
