Hi friend,
What do you do when nothing is going your way?
Do you like being in control of things or do you prefer going with the flow?
Personally, I’m so hardwired into my routine that it could hurt my teeth and bones when I’m unable to follow it.
And that’s what I’m going to speak about.
PS: Thank god I wrote this newsletter earlier in the week. I’m editing it on Friday in bed with weakness and heavy eye sockets🤒 so if there are mistakes, sorry in advance.
My biggest strength at work and in life comes from a habit - working out.
Think about it. Sometimes your core strength at work may actually come from outside of work.
I was obese and started shedding weight at 18. During my undergrad, I dropped 25 kg. I thought this just helped me get into a healthy lifestyle, but today, there are other benefits now that I notice:
delayed gratification: for saying no to all the junk that I was offered (I was also usually broke by mid-month so junk was cheaper lol)
consistency: waking up at 6:15 am and showing up to the gym every day before class
persistence: pushing through rain or chill and even when I didn’t see results
hard work: to exercise and eat healthy every day, which has become a lifestyle today
But this also made me in love with my routine of waking up early, being productive, and being a bit stuck up.
This means, I get agitated when stuff doesn’t happen my way…
And obviously, everything is all over the place since I got married.
I have my morning routine but I also want to spend time with the husband when he’s awake (feels weird to say husband it hasn’t even been a month lol).
I want to write my article at 10 am but thats also when the sun is in our garden and I want to have tea with the family and talk and have fun.
And surprisingly, I’m okay with it???!!!!
Is this growth? I’m not sure.
But I think it’s largely prioritisation and knowing what’s important in life. It’s moulding accordingly to what life throws at you instead of being upset about things that don’t really matter.
It’s about being free from your own restrictions.
I can write an article in at 3:30 pm as I sometimes used to back home. I can take out 2 days a week to record my YouTube videos. I still have all the time, it’s just that a part of it is shared and that shared time is my favourite part of the day.
So if you’re like me, I encourage you to think of what truly matters. Yes, you’re late for task XYZ but can it be done later or are you annoyed only because it’s breaking a pattern?
Is that pattern only deeply embedded in your head?
Then perhaps, it’s time to let loose.
To set yourself free.
To be fluid.

After skipping a week, I’m getting back slowly but surely.
See you next week!

Great one, thank you for it.
