Hi friend,
I type this on a rainy Saturday morning. My window is open and there’s a chilly breeze that hugs me every few minutes. Though the sound of rain is so comforting.
It hasn’t rained like this for years. Non-stop, day and night, for days. And apparently, we’ll have this weather until Monday.
This actually reminds me of my time back in boarding school when it would rain for days but never when we had to wake up at 5:50 am for our morning drills (exercises). The irony :(
Today, I want to talk about the ease of being. I thought of this term 6 minutes ago.
The Ease of ‘Being’
I feel like I’ve spent this year running for one thing after another.
As humans, we are wired to feel safe and certain - and that’s all I was doing. Working so hard to feel safe after taking the decision to be self-employed.
During my travels in August, I realised I also want to consciously take out time to
appreciate how far I’ve come
relish the good stuff
rest more
So when I was invited to the LinkedIn office this Wednesday, I was genuinely so glad. For a change, I wasn’t shy about feeling proud of myself. I wasn’t shy to come home and take time off to relax and do nothing for a while.
Earlier, I used all my ‘achievements’ as content.
Get it. Write about it. Next.
In this race that I didn’t even know I’m running, I forgot to be kind to myself.
I thought that applauding myself will make me complacent and I’ll give myself too much importance. But when your purpose of why you do what you do is so strong, can you really stop working with all your heart?
Everything is so much better when your mind is rested and your heart is full of love.
Otherwise, you’d be stuck in a race and you won’t even know it to be one. Just like I find people clicking pictures of food and uploading stories about their life on Instagram super weird, but I can only recognise it because I’m way from that race.
So whoever needs to hear this - no win is big or small, it’s a win. Trust me, I’ve let the bigger ones pass by like nothing and now I’m going to celebrate each one of them no matter how small.
You deserve to be happy.
You don’t need to ‘earn’ celebrations.
And you deserve to feel good about yourself without a reason.
Podcast Appearance
I’m scared of podcasting and videos and being ‘out there’, which is why I’m accepting more podcast requests now (to battle my fear hehe).
This podcast conducted by Sarthak is out now.
You can watch me talk about making a living out of writing here.
See you next week.
Love,
N
I am thinking of Raman Noodles 🍜. You wrote an article on them months ago and it's one of my favorites you've written. I also add things to them to give them umph. My favorite is Sriracha sauce, it makes them good to great...as for your other articles, there always constructive and heart warming.
Thank you Niharikaa for your - Open/ Honest Energy, Always !
