Hi friend,
I type this on a Friday late afternoon. It feels pretty good to start writing these newsletters after summer.
We have the festive season going on. Last week this time, I was going crazy. The entire day went by in a blink. Jai and I hosted our first Diwali party since we got married and it felt like we’d been planning it for so long and 18th October came and went so quickly.
Here’s a photo from that day:

If you don’t know it already - I don’t cook. I don’t have the patience for it and I love to eat. My argument for this is that I like to be on the receiving end of the kitchen ;)
On this day, I made Vietnamese rolls for the first time which took 2 hours. I didn’t even try them because the day went so quickly that I didn’t really feel hungry. Now I know why my mum spends all day in the kitchen when she hosts and barely eats anything herself.
Today, In 3 hours I’ll shower and then go to get a blowdry.
Something as small as a hair-wash and blow-dry are luxuries I never indulged in. My mum still won’t pay for a hair wash, lol. So when I did it last week it for an occasion it felt good, but also strange.
There are some habits we weren’t taught to give into because we didn’t have the money for it. The only time I did it before this was for one of my wedding functions.
Anyhoo - I have two Diwali parties to go to thereafter.
If you have known me for a while, you’d know I sleep and wake up early. I’ve been training myself to sleep at 1 am and wake up at 9 am for 10 days so I’m not a party pooper 🤣
Tomorrow, I’ll see my bestest friend in the world after a year after which I’ll push off for a concert, and then another Diwali party.
Many of you may not even know what Diwali is, some of you are from places that know of it but don’t celebrate it as big.
It’s a big festival in India.
But it’s even bigger where I stay - Delhi.
When I moved here in 2018 after 9 years of living away, I was pleasantly surprised. People celebrate it grand, host so many people, play cards, drink, and have fun. It’s undoubtedly the best time of the entire year.
So here’s to wishing you a happy festive season too. I hope love and light ignite in your home.
Love,
N
