Hi friend,
How are you doing this weekend? How was your week?
I had a nice and laid back week where I didn’t feel like working too much. It was also my mum’s birthday, so lots of celebrating.
And then Friday evening, my course Summit 21 got sold out its fourth cohort. Yay!
This newsletter is inspired by a conversation I had with her friend who reads my newsletters and told me it’s amazing with the work I’m doing and how much clarity I have.
I want to take your three minutes to tell you that I don’t actually have as much clarity about anything in life as it may look like.
You and I are in probably the same boat.
Why I Show Up
I have been showing up to write for a little over a year.
I have been working out every day for 8 years.
I am practising affirmations for 2 years.
I do this because I’ve seen my life improve with this.
Being healthy has helped me battle obesity. Writing has helped me quit a corporate job and do what I love. Affirmations have helped me get closer to my goals by shaping my mindset.
I believe with all my heart that nobody is meant to live a sucky life. Sure, we all gotta eat a shit sandwich sometimes which means doing things we don’t enjoy because we have bills to pay.
But we have much more control over our lives than we think, the world just doesn’t talk about it enough. This is the reason we don’t have a lot of cool people doing cool things.
The impact of beliefs isn’t spoken about enough.
The effect of your mind over your life is underrated.
Challenging existing systems is uncommon.
So in short - we simply don’t talk about it enough. And I show up because it improves my life, and I have fun doing it.
And it’s realistic too. I wouldn’t have quit my job to follow my passion if I wasn’t making money. Yesterday, a top Indian B-School had their ad with median MBA compensation package given.
A year ago, I would’ve thought - I don’t think I can ever get there unless I become a Vice President in 10-15 years.
Now, I think - LOL, nice.
I write to you every week. It doesn’t make me money. Hell, ya’ll aren’t leads for my business as well so I don’t sell to you.
But you reply back with how the newsletter made you think of something that improved you just a little.
That, to me, means the world. It’s a direct impact right there. It fulfils my purpose.
It’s my fuel.
Method of Elimination Is Underrated
People keep telling us to look for what we want. But isn’t it easier to figure out what you don’t want?
I mean, I only became self-aware because I knew plenty of things that I really didn’t want and that really frustrated me.
When seeking clarity, look at what you don’t want. At least it’ll put you on the path to getting to know what you do want.
What I Suck At
I still suck at studying.
The 8-week long French course I took made me feel like a student all over again. Throughout my school and college, I’ve never been motivated to work hard and study.
I feel if I even I’d have put in half the effort I do right now, I would’ve got kickass grades. But I cannot.
No matter what I do, I really don’t enjoy or feel like studying.
On the other hand, I can read and do online courses to learn.
But traditional studying? No way.
Why Am I Telling You This
Because we are scrolling all day.
LinkedIn shows us everybody is more successful than us.
Twitter shows us everybody is making more money than us. They’re smarter than us.
Instagram shows us everybody is more attractive and lives a better life than us.
But thats not true. You have your own superpower, you just don’t know it, YET. Either because you believe that self-help is this facade that doesn’t make sense, or because you don’t believe you or your life are capable of improvement.
I was the latter.
What about you?
That’s all for this week, folks.
I hope you enjoy it. I’d love for you to comment and let me know.
Also, I have over 300 articles published on Medium. If you want to read my articles + articles by writers 100x better than me, you can join in using my referral link.
Reading on Medium from people like Ayodeji Awosika, Sean Kernan, Tim Denning, Eric Sangerma, Ryan Holiday, Tom Kuegler, George Ziogas, etc is where my journey of changing things started. I’m sure it will help you too :)
See you next week.
Love,
