Hi friend,
I know this is weird. The headline has probably made most of you go like wtf.
But there’s a reason.
I don’t want to learn cooking. I never wanted to. And as much as I love eating meat, the sight of raw meat disgusts me (leave alone touching it with my hands).
I’ve made it a vow to never cook.
And yes, I tried before…
During my Master’s in Manchester, my family thought hmm now she’ll finally learn what she’s been putting away. But I’d buy tortillas and pre-cooked meat, make a roll, and call it a day. I only tried cooking once in that year with the help of my flatmate (to touch meat) and gave up.
I also didn’t understand how is it fair to cook for 30 min but gobble it up in 5.
You see, I have a point.
Also, I have no shame in being on the other side of the kitchen. There’s a maker, and a receiver. I’m a receiver, simple.
But something changed this week.
I’ve been following an Ayurvedic diet. Not exactly strictly Ayurvedic because I am allowed meat but I’ve tried lots of new things in the past few days such as:
basil and fenugreek seeds
aloe vera juice
soaked seeds
sattu lassi
amla juice
oats roti
Triphala
And it hasn’t been easy. It was challenging, but every day I feel so good.
Jai and I went out for lunch this week where I ordered rice and shrimp, it was slightly like fried rice. When I ate that, I could feel the difference. As if there’s grease put into my body! Because for so many days I haven’t put anything oily, refined, or unhealthy in my system.
It made me realise the time I deleted Instagram. Just because it’s normalised, we think it’s okay. But when I let go and realised how much space it freed in my head and how it shot up my potential and mental health, I could never go back.
When you experience the good side, the not-so-good one becomes clearer.
I haven’t had tea or coffee, and I feel light and energetic!
Anyhoo, this diet required me to cook a bit.
So we do have a cook who comes, but yours truly is a noob to even give instructions.
So two great G’s have been helping me:
Google
Grandma
And I’ve been giving it a hand. I now realise it’s not that bad. It’s just time-consuming. Like I made Apple Beetroot Carrot juice the other day and it was a pain to keep straining it.
The pumpkin soup I made last night had less salt. That’s okay though, can’t perfect it in the first go.
So here’s something I want to ask you:
For those who work, how do you take out time to cook? What time suits you best?
Suggestions for healthy and easy recipes, please.
And honestly, what felt better than cooking was my mum-in-law telling me how much she liked the soup. It put me over the moon! Now I know why some people love feeding others - it’s so rewarding.
My Highlight of This Week
I had Ankur Warikoo take a guest session for my course, Summit 21!!!!!
The feedback was amazing, and the session was super value-packed. I learnt so much and would have to listen to it again to absorb everything :)

I found this post hilarious in a cute way. It’s so surprising. I work about 50+ hrs a week as a travel nurse and I still eat home cooked food.
I personally don’t like the taste of take out unless it’s a good restaurant. To answer your questions, I basically just list all the thing I like to eat and categorize it by protein.
For example, chicken meals
- stir fry vegetables
- chicken teriyaki
- oven baked chicken
This goes the same with beef and pasta.
So most of it take about 30 - 45 minutes to consume but what I do is I batch cook. So it’ll take me 2 hours to make 2 different dishes and I’ll eat that for the next 3 - 4 days since I don’t have time to cook when I work 12 hour shifts.
I have to microwave the food and it’s less fresh but I think it’s still better than buying food outside. Also, I use this time to listen to podcast, catch up on course recordings and so it’s not terrible. It’s actually very therapeutic sometimes.
As for the recipes, you’ll have to list all the things you like and then try them out. Tbh, you only need about 3-5 recipes to master and you can keep rotating around them.
Anyways I hope that helps!
I want to laugh. Can’t find the laugh reaction.
Oh, we’re on Substack. 😁😁😁
