I love to workout, so I had the same fears when I had ACL surgery. Trust me, if you follow the rehab/physical therapy after surgery, you will not gain weight and you will get an exhausting workout! I think I even lost a little weight!!
The first week was the worst, very painful. That was partially my fault for not "staying ahead of the pain" as they like to say. Take your pain meds exactly as prescribed! When you go to sleep set an alarm to wake you up to take your pain meds. Don't do like I did and wait for the pain to wake you up to take your pain meds. Start PT (physical therapy) as soon and as often as your doctor will let you. You would think PT would be painful, but I actually felt much better physically and mentally after I started going. And it's worth repeating again, "stay ahead of the pain." Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions, fears, or concerns. I have had two knee surgeries, two shoulder surgeries, and hernia surgery. Every one of them was scary for me! However, my pre-op fears were always worse than my post-op reality. If you are feeling scared, nervous, or even terrified while you are in pre-op let the medical staff know! They have some amazing meds they can give you to calm you down and make you feel wonderful.
Thanks so much for this, Dave. I'll make sure to take meds on time and be diligent with painkillers. Coincidently, one of my friends went in for his ACL reconstruction and told me its super painful but within a week he's feeling better and limping less.
Thank you so so much for this, its really helpful :)
Much healing power to you! You will bounce back in no time. Good luck with the surgery! Also I don’t understand crypto and I just invested very minimal money in it and made some money out of it. I put is aside as if I would never get it back and I was ok to lose it. Voila! I did make money. I would say though I did it through PayPal app. Don’t invest through that. As they take some percentage of it.
I am doing great! Thanks for asking. Hope your surgery goes well. Prayers for speedy recovery and prayers for your mom too as you will bug her post surgery 😂😂
Well written Niharika.
Maybe you're having slight loss aversion just thinking about the post surgery recovery phase. Just my two cents. :)
Quite sure both your surgery and the road to recovery would be great and you'd be raring to go again soon. Good luck and more power to you.
Haha, could be! Thank you :))

I've heard rehab and physio is 50% of the work and needs to be diligently followed (and is also very painful :x ). How do you feel post surgery?
